Today, I did a photo shoot for a rapper called "Wayne Fortune". I met him a couple of weeks ago and he's a really cool dude. When you walk around in NYC you meet a lot of rappers standing on the corners pushing their music and I've done a couple of "quick on the spot" shots for some of them, but Wayne and his crew were different. They are truly dedicated and the fact that they checked out my work, before asking me if I wanted to shoot the cover flicks for his upcoming EP, shows me that these guys are serious. Anyway, we did the shoot in their hood, Church Ave - located in Flatbush, Brooklyn - and even though I've seen my share of ghetto, this place kind of shook me a little the first time I was there, scoping the place out. We did the photos on the street at various locations and they turned out great. I'm having a really good time chilling with this crew (and their pitbull), hanging out at their crib and studio and I have a feeling that they are going big. Flicks coming later...

A brief update - I'm walking around shooting almost every day. It's great and when you spend so many hours on the streets, you get to know the city on so many new levels - the locals in different areas, where to get cheap food and coffee, where to take your power nap, free stuff, listening to different types of music, etc. You're almost becoming part of the city scenery and the "city" also starts noticing you...Sounds strange? Anyway, I think my work on this trip is pretty dark and at this point I don't really know where it's going. I'm chillin quite a lot with my friend Stephen (check out his work in my links section), but mostly this trip is about being the lonesome drifting cowboy.

The New York photo festival 2010 has just ended - 4 days packed with exhibitions, talks, shows, portfolio reviews etc. As last year, it was very inspiring and informative and especially my 5 portfolio reviews, shed some light on the whole photography fine art industry. Furthermore the interviews supplied me with great feedback on my work and how to keep advancing my style and grow as an artist. I had a great time and met some cool people - already looking forward to next year.

Arrived 2 days ago and trying to loose my jetlag and adjust to the mood of NYC. This is my 9th time here and it's starting to feel like my second home. It's so great being back. I'm staying at 157th in Harlem - it's cool, I just wish I spoke spanish.
